a little update

Thought I'd post some stuff I've been doing since I haven't since... a year ago.

Here's some mermaids. There will probably be a lot more of these... as I work on a mermaid game called Mermaid World (by Crowdstar).

And here are some characters I was developing last year. I really liked them but never posted them.

And then there is this cool Pokemon gallery called "Rare Candy" going on right now which I did a piece for. My random Pokemon was Starmie. It's done in traditional acrylic paint on illustration board, size 7x7in. Although I was a little disappointed to have a Pokemon with no true face, I just decided to make the gem into a giant shimmery eye gazing at an amazing shooting star.

Also, here is a link to all the other Pokemon pieces that you can bid on for charity!

Oh, I also painted this Katamari piece for a little gallery show at work. The prince is just rolling around in San Francisco, NBD.

So that's just a little snippet of what I've been doing since after graduating. My first year of working in the industry has been really great so far. I've really learned a lot and feel like I've grown as an artist.

I'll post some cool mermaids soon. :) And maybe some silly cosplay pictures.... lol

the Munroe family

We're doing a new project in BFA based off a story by John Steinbeck.  Here's my rendition of a family that moved from the city to the country and made their residence in a house that is said to be haunted.

Jose's birthday present ... and some other stuff

One of our good friend's birthday just passed, and his lovely girlfriend thought it would be great to have a surprise birthday gallery where we would each make a piece of art and hang it up in a cool place!

Here's my piece:  Cute Cthulhu

Here's some stuff I've been working on for school.  It's a contemporary retelling of the Greek Tragedy "Orpheus".  Rough stuff is rough.  Wanted to try for a more delicate line drawing and very "Asian cartoony" look, but not like Anime.

Christmas presents

For this Christmas, I decided to make something for my brother instead of buying something.  He's always saying how he wished he had some cool wall art.  Also, I can never get my brother something he likes and is useful to him.  He's too hard to shop for. :P

This is what I made for him....

Mario paper collage mural!  It was a fun process that I think I'll try again.

I also drew this cute design for my best friend and her fiance and got it printed on mugs.  It's of their sweet piggy corgi named Ein.  Now I have a custom paw brush. lol

viz dev: final!

So... here's some of what I've been working on lately.  Hoping to work on more to put in my portfolio.

This is the exterior of their house, the family, the daughter's room, and the son's room.

This is the first project in a while that I'm really really pleased with.....

more characters

Yes.  MORE CHARACTERS.  Here's the whole family.

These are some characters for another project I'm working on at the same time.  The boy gets turned into a cat, and I decided that he becomes a white + blue-eyed British Shorthair.  I tried to humanize the eyes a little bit on the cat to give some crossover of the boy inside the cat.  Don't know if it really worked though....

20000 Leagues Under the Sea

Totally forgot to post this stuff.  Our first project for BFA was Jules Verne's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.  We were to design Captain Nemo in his regular clothes and his diving suit.  We then designed props and did one story moment.  I still want to fix stuff, but I'm so focused on the current projects.

I really tried to focus on material and lighting for this project.  It was cool!  I really hate my diving suit design though.  Really want to redo the whole thing.....  My Nemo is North African, btw.  I know he's supposed to be Indian, but for our project parameters, it wasn't really specified that we have to make him Indian. 8D

Before doing this project, we spent a few weeks getting into the mood by doing some story paintings about a historical figure during the time the book was published - how would that person react when he/she heard about the monster?

My person was Alexander Graham Bell, age 23.
